Gravity is a brilliant force that allows us to live day-to-day without the care of drifting from our attachment to the earth. Like a mother to child, the earth holds us close so we don’t falter. When our feet connect to the earth they become powerful conduits for energy–such as wisdom and guidance. Animals know this well.
I believe feet are designed as a microcosm (mini-map) of the body because of their relationship with gravity. Walking is the grace of gravity in motion where each segment of the foot is planted to the ground, giving the adage “being grounded” literal meaning. Let’s relate the connection of the foot as we walk on the earth to Reflexology:

Given how the feet influence the body, and their connection to the earth, it would add value to be mindful with the types of shoes we put on our feet for extended periods of time so we can keep our feet sensitive to earth energies.
Our feet are a microcosm of the body, and the body is a microcosm of the earth. It’s ok to think of yourself as the center of the Universe–because you are. Not in the selfish or calloused sense, but with a gentle and purposeful awareness that opens the heart to guide, nourish, and nurture our unique, individual gifts–and the relationships we build around us. This state of being comes from the flow of love that circulates within us which is enhanced by our connection with nature. Human beings are like plants to the earth, so let the earth be a grounding platform in this walk of life.
